What Am I Going to Do?:
Player's need to think about what they are
going to do BEFORE they get the puck.

They need to read the ice and determine
their options if and when they get the puck.
Will I skate?, pass to a player?, dump the
puck?, shoot?

As the players get older and more skilled
you hear references to 'time and space'.
Time... The amount of time you have before
being pressured.
Space... How much room you have to work
with (2' or 20').

Both of these elements get smaller as the
game gets better.  That is why it becomes
critical to have a few options planned ahead
for when you do have the puck on your
stick.
